There's two great pieces of news and a small disappointment from the chocolate wonderland! We're also giving you an insight into our strictly confidential income/expense calculation!
The first news: nut-free Easter chocolate!
As many of you may have already noticed, we're offering you the opportunity to pre-order nut-free (and in some cases even soy-free) Easter chocolate from Dammenberg and Plamil, which you've already taken advantage of. You can find the chocolate here: Everything for Easter (guaranteed nut-free)
We don't yet have enough orders to have the Easter eggs and Easter bunnies delivered from Finland and England, respectively, so we'd be happy if you could join us for pre-orders...
Second news: Minimum order value halved!
To make shopping at Chocolate Wonderland easier for you, we've halved the minimum order value to €10. With two or three bars of chocolate, you can easily reach this amount.
Our goal isn't to make a profit, but with a minimum order value of €10, there's a small downside: to offset the losses from small orders, we have to introduce a small minimum order surcharge of €1.99 for orders between €10 and €20 . Why is this necessary?
To answer this question, we want to give you a transparent insight into our income and expenditure
Example: Someone orders three jars of Plamil spread for approximately €12. Including shipping, they pay approximately €17. This compares to our expenses: the spread costs approximately €11.50 (purchase price, not including the time spent shopping, etc.).
Shipping/packaging costs 6 euros (the glasses can only be sent as a parcel, which is 5 euros with DHL, plus packaging material)
Total: 17.50 Euro (pure costs for spread and shipping )
We still need to factor in costs for warehousing, accounting, wages, fuel, depreciation of unsold spread, etc. Accounting, personally drafted emails, creating invoices and delivery notes, packing the jars, and driving to the post office all take about 45 minutes. Based on labor costs of €16 per hour (the minimum wage including taxes and social security contributions), we would have to add another €12 and still wouldn't have generated a profit.
The customer would actually have to pay 29.50 euros for the three glasses including shipping (17.50 euros + 12 euros wages)… Luckily, we work for free ☺
With the €1.99 minimum order surcharge, you'll pay around €19 for the three jars of spread, including shipping, which includes the pure "material value" plus shipping and packaging costs! Sounds more than fair, right?
If we're honest, we obviously can't survive like this forever. That's why we rely on your support : group orders with friends and give us feedback (what you like about the Chocolate Wonderland, and especially what you don't like)!
Tell everyone about us, including on Facebook and in forums (this is really important!). Rate chocolate in the Chocolate Wonderland using the rating function so other visitors know which chocolate varieties taste delicious!
Comment on our blog posts, which we publish regularly, so that other Wunderland visitors know that the site is “alive” and visited by other chocolate lovers!
We're just getting started, and there's so much great chocolate out there that's also suitable for allergy sufferers. We'd like to be able to offer you all of these varieties someday. We believe in this idea, but we really need your support!
Certainly, there are currently suppliers with whom we can't compete on price. These suppliers purchase significantly more cheaply through larger order volumes, pay less for shipping, and generally save money due to the large volume of incoming orders.
But for us, there's nothing more beautiful than a grateful email from a mother who has spent years desperately searching for chocolate for her sick daughter! Or a message from a father who is simply happy that his son can finally eat chocolate like all other children. Such grateful moments are what motivate us!
We're interested in your problems and will help you personally so you can enjoy delicious chocolate without any problems. We'll find the delicious chocolate your child can eat despite their allergies.
A large online shop can't offer you all this! And with every purchase at Chocolate Wonderland, you help us stay more affordable and thus make more children's hearts happy!
Thanks for this help!
See you soon here in Chocolate Wonderland!
Yours, Kim-Rudolf Mayer
PS: We now also have nut-free varieties from the popular German confectionery Gmeiner in Wonderland! You can find the chocolate here: Gmeiner Chocolatiers
