Starting in March 2022, we will have to adjust our shipping terms to reflect the sharp price increases. At the same time , we are reducing the minimum order value for orders with a goods value of less than €20 to €0.99. You might be wondering why these changes are happening. DHL increased its prices for business customers at the beginning of 2022 , so that in many cases, our stated shipping costs don't even cover the actual shipping costs. At the same time, the prices for packaging materials have risen significantly , so we need an additional (average) €1.80 per parcel for packaging materials.
In addition, almost all chocolate manufacturers have adjusted their purchase prices in recent months to reflect current developments, so we can no longer compensate for shipping losses with our revenue.
Brexit has proven particularly problematic for all importers. To give you an idea of the additional costs associated with Britain's exit from the EU, here are some comparative figures:
Before Brexit, delivery costs for chocolate from England were approximately €200 for every €2,000 worth of chocolate purchased.
After Brexit, the cost for the same delivery will be €800 (including customs duties, import VAT, ATLAS, etc.).
So for a bar of chocolate that costs €3 to buy, there are now an additional €1.20 in delivery/customs charges, bringing the total cost to €4.20 instead of €3.30 (before Brexit) for the same bar of chocolate!
If we want to continue offering you chocolate, we will have to pass on a portion of any additional costs to you, even though we have resisted this for a very long time… The adjustments are quite moderate, as you can see below:
